Asiatique The Riverfront is a more luxurious night market than traditional night markets in Thailand. It is open every night in Bangkok. This market is located in the old docks of the East Asiatic Company on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The complex opened in 2012 after the renovation of the docks. There are 1500 shops and 40 restaurants located in the old warehouses. Particular attention has been paid to the decoration with statues recalling the function of the place, a replica of a tram and even a Ferris wheel that offers a lovely view of Bangkok illuminated at night.
Some people say that Asiatique replaces the old Bangkok night market Suan Lum Night Bazaar but as for me it is less popular and more luxurious than Suan Lum. It is more a Hi-So place, like Bangkokians say, especially for restaurants exceoppt for a small square where you can dine for more reasonable prices. But it is true that the landscape and the quality of the restaurants explain the prices. Asiatique The Riverfront may be a good place to spend a little different evening in Bangkok.
Note that for all major events, Asiatique The Riverfront offers festivities. This is a nice place to celebrate New Year's Eve with a big fireworks on the river or to celebrate Songkran, Loy Krathong...
