The province of Nakhon Sawan is probably one of the least visited in Northern Thailand. Although it is crossed by train and bus when going from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. There is Bueng Boraphet Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Thailand, and is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers.
Travelers can also go up to Wat Kiri Wong, a very gilded temple which dominates the city from its mountain. We will also note a few other interesting temples, Mount Khao Nor and an astonishing Bootel temple and a nice little night market along the river. Ah yes, this is also where the mythical river of Thailand, the Chao Phraya, begins.
Nakhon Sawan also organizes major festivals for Chinese holidays in its Paradise Park in particular. It is a good destination especially for Chinese New Year.
Located roughly halfway between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Nakhon Sawan, whose name literally means The City of Paradise, is often regarded as the gateway to Northern Thailand. Rarely visited by foreign tourists, this province offers an authentic and peaceful atmosphere, far from the main tourist circuits.
