For the biggest Buddhist festivals, Wat Pan Tao in Chiang Mai organizes candle ceremonies around its small pond. The most famous is the one held for Loy Krathong. The ceremony usually starts around 7 pm but I advise you to be there at least 1 hour 30 minutes in advance, to have a good spot and also attend the preparations.
