Chakri Memorial Day

Every year on April 6, the Thai people commemorates the founding of the Chakri dynasty, dynasty of the current king, Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. Founded in 1782, it succeeded to Ayutthaya Kings who were defeated by the Burmese. They moved the capital of the Kingdom to Bangkok. Chakri kings then took the name of Rama. The current King is Rama X.
