Find accommodation in Thailand at the best price

Find a room in Thailand at the best rate

Booking websites like Booking.com and Agoda.com often offer rooms at lower prices than if you book directly with the hotel or guesthouse. It is now quite common for reception staff to quote a higher walk-in rate and to refuse to match the Agoda or Booking price, so booking online is often cheaper even when you are standing at the front desk.

Stay with locals in Thailand for (almost) nothing

Stay with locals in Thailand for (almost) nothing

Staying with locals is still a good way to cut your accommodation budget in Thailand, and above all to meet Thai people. The best-known platform, Couchsurfing, is no longer completely free: since 2020, travelers need a small subscription to contact hosts (staying with the host remains free). There are also non-profit and 100% free alternatives such as BeWelcome or Trustroots, with fewer hosts but a very similar spirit. In any case, most hosts are in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and a few large cities: elsewhere, you will rather rely on guesthouses, which are very affordable all over the country.

Another option is WWOOFING, which is growing in Thailand (it is not free, see details in this article).
