A few steps away from
Wat Luang, Wat Phong Sunan rarely appears in Thailand guide book but it is very interesting place at least for its long reclining golden Buddha. You can its back over the temple walls.
When you arrive are in front of a porch decorated with golden tips, facing you stands the wihaan and its staircase surrounded by two nagas and at the end of the hall, you can see Buddha images when bank notes garlands are hanging from the ceiling. Behind the main hall, there is a golden Chedi surrounded by statues. On the right, another building withmore colorful frescoes but it will surely be especially the peaceful and smiling reclining Buddha facing this building that will hold your attention.
Certainly it is a recent temple but it is rich in decorations and statues. And as it is on the way to get from wat Luang to Wat Phra Non, the temple of the Reclining Buddha (another one), it would be a great pity to not visit Wat Pong Sunan . Especially because the head monk likes to talk English with passing tourists.
