Trek on an ancient path created by the Hmong hill tribes when they arrived from Laos in the last century and settled in Chiang Mai mountains to cultivate poppy.

Details

This one-day trek will start at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep< /a> and will follow an ancient path created by the Hmong tribes when they arrived from Laos in the last century. They settled here in the mountains to cultivate poppies. The path still exists and will take you through the deep jungle to their villages in the pine trees at the foot of Doi Pui.

Very quickly, you will sink into the jungle for about 10 kilomètres walk in the tropical forests. The path to the first Hmong village is not steep and quite flat. As you climb, the forest will thin out, pine trees will replace the dense jungle. Once you arrive in the village, be prepared for a complete change in atmosphere and climate.

This village is known for growing delicious Arabica coffee that you can enjoy directly from the producer. After the coffee break with the locals, you will continue the ascent to arrive on a beautiful ridge surrounded by pine trees offering a magnificent view of the surrounding fields and valleys.

Then, you will plunge back into the wilder jungle on a slightly descending path leading to the last Hmong village. Arrived at Ban Doi Pui the horizon will open again on the mountains. You'll stop here for a well-deserved meal with the locals before returning to Chiang Mai by taxi.
