The 1st day of this 2-day trek in Chiang Mai, will begin with a dense bamboo jungle, acting as a natural border between the country of the Karen who live in the valley and the country of the Hmong who live in the high countryside. After a long gradual ascent, the slope will become harder and harder and finally so steep that you will have to use your hands in places. Finally, the horizon will clear and you will be able to observe the hills all around and the summit which you will reach in a few hours.
You will arrive at the Hmong village of Mong Ngo with its bamboo houses nestled against the side of the mountain located on a pass culminating at 1250 meters for a well-deserved break before tackling the ascent of the final summit. The last part is very steep but at the top the view all around is amazing! In the foreground, the green hills towards Chiang Dao which appears clearly in the background. You'll dine by the fire and spend the night at the top in tents with your head in the stars.
On the morning of the 2nd day, you will have breakfast in this magnificent setting which will accompany you for a few more kilometers when you resume the trek. Then, you will plunge again into the rainforest on a wild path that leads to the village of Kio Bua Ha in which you will have lunch on a bamboo platform overlooking the small village.
After lunch, you will tackle a difficult part of this trek in Chaing Mai province, along a river inside small gorges. It is quite physically demanding but you will enjoy the adventure side of this part of the course. Then, you will arrive at the final village of Kai Noi.
This trek is for seasoned hikers, it's not a Sunday hike. It's 22 kilometers walked in 2 days with fairly steep uphill portions. But the landscapes and moments spent will be magnificent rewards.
