Children’s Day is held on the 2nd Saturday of January in Thailand

Every second Saturday of January, Thailand celebrates its children with a holiday that is totally dedicated to them.

There will be many attractions and events across the country to entertain the kids. Private companies but also government agencies and royal army organize all kinds of activities that day.

Expect all the fun places for kids our for going out with family to be very busy on Saturday !

One of the biggest Children’s day events in Thailand, as in previous years, will be at Don Muang Airport in Bangkok, where the Royal Thai Air Force will offer a free air show with demonstrations of several fighter jets. It will start at 8:15 am and stop at 3 pm.

F16 fighters will simulate aerial combat and air strikes, AU-23 will demonstrate colorful smoke, and EC-725 helicopters and Gripen jets will fly overhead.

The show entrance is free. If you want to attend it, Iread there will be a free shuttle to bring visitors from the parking lot to the track.

The influx of the event is important, the road trafic should be more important than usual between Bangkok and Don Muang airport so if you have a flight from tehre, plan more time to get to the airport.

The army will be very active and will offer many activities and demonstrations in different military bases in the country. For example, the Royal Thai Air Force usually also invites children on this day to explore its planes including 603 Squardron Air Base and Air Force Museum on Phahonyothin Road.

It is the tradition, the Government House will be open to the public from 8 am to 3 pm and the children will have the privilege of being able to sit in the chair of the prime minister, this is one of the most popular moments of the event.

The Asiatique the Riverfront, will also celebrate Children’s Day by offering child under 120 cm tall, regardless of age, their gender, race or ethnicity, and I quote their words so that means that it also works for foreign children, to enjoy a free ride on its Ferris Whee l! (from  4 pm to midnight)

The Museum of Siam will open for free with special activities for children. This year, they will focus on five traditions such as thai long boat races or Songkran festival (9am – 5pm).

Up to 300 awards have been prepared for the activities, which will take place at the PRD office in Soi Ari Samphan on Saturday between 7 am and 2 pm.

Almost every theme parks for children across Thailand will also offer discounts or even free activities on that day.

This list is obviously not exhaustive. There will be hundreds of other events in Bangkok and throughout the country.

Thailand loves children and shows them at Children’s Day even more than the rest of the year !
