Bangkok’s Car free day is tomorrow

Car Free Day will be held in Bangkok tomorrow, September 22. For the occasion a promotional unique rate for all public transportation in the Thai capital city will be offered. Of course there will still be cars in the streets of bangkok, but normally less than the other days of the year.

For 50 THB, un pin will give you access to all public transportation in Bangkok

 

With the purchase of a 50 THB pin, Bangkokians will be permitted to board all public transportation in the city, BTS, MRT, Airport Rail Link, city bus system, Chao Phraya Express, public rental bikes, and city tour shuttle buses in Rattanakosin Island for the whole day without any additional costs. And at 8am there will be a bike parade that will start at Sanam Luang and go to Central World shopping mall where an exhibition, on-stage activities and promotional booths will be held.

For those interested, Bangkok Car Free Day pins can be purchased at BMA Express (located at Siam, Mo Chit, and Phrom Pong BTS station), Bangkok Bike Rental Booths, and the headquarter of Bangkok Bank. The revenue will be donated to Chaipattana Foundation.

The Rattanakosin tram service will return to Rattanakosin Island on Sept 22 in celebration of Bangkok’s Car Free Day. If the service is well-received officials said they would consider making it a permanent route.
