Koh Phangan airport operative for the end of the year

The direct air route Bangkok to Koh Phangan should be operational by the end of the year. The construction of the airport on the island is about to be complete.

Somphong Sooksanguan, investor of Koh Phangan airport and founder of Kan Air, has confirmed that the first flight will take off at the end of the year. The construction of the airport is 70% complete. It already cost 500 million baht but total cost may reach 1 billion bahts.

Until now, people had to take a ferry to go to the island. It  will be soon possible to get there by air directly from Bangkok. Kan Air will offer 3 rotations per day fro Don Muang Airport, dedicated to low cost airlines. However, Koh Phangan airport will remain open to other airlines.
