Thai army decorated with flowers

Thailand is very concerned about the image that returns the country and tourists it can attract or scare. And the country’s image of Smiles has been somewhat tarnished in recent times with the events and incidents that marred. So to reduce the negative impact of the military presence in the streets, it was decided to … decorate military checkpoints with flowers!

The airmy has spruced up checkpoints close to tourist spots by putting flowers around their bunkers after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra suggested less intimidating decor would help improve Thailand’s image, says Bangkok Post.

Currently, there are 176 military checkpoints in Bangkok, near the protest sites, crowded places and government offices. But not all of them will have the chance to have flowers.

Note that the protesters have stopped their Bangkok Shutdown since the beginning of the week and gather only at Lumphini Park now. The situation in the Thai capital city is almost back to normal. There are no reasons to hesitate to go to Bangkok anymore. Just avoid Lumphini Park especially at night.
