Taxi fare in Thailand to go up 8-13% in December
We announced it here, a few weeks ago, now it is officiall: taxis fare in Thailand will increase by 8-13% in December. Transport Minister Prajin Juntong confirmed it 5 days ago.

The increase will occur in two phases. From December to May, the increase will be limited to 8%. At the end of that period, the quality of service will be checked and if the results are satisfactory, the ministry will allow for increases to a maximum of 13%.
The minister said the starting price (care + first kilometer) will remain unchanged at 35 baht as it has been for over 20 years. An increase of 50 satang baht will apply to every kilometer after the first one and when the taxi stops.
Decided because of a cost of living and energy cost higher, this increase will be followed by MRT fare increase in January. Transportation in Bangkok will soon cost more .
