Krabi
Located in town at Khanap Nam Pier on the edge of the Krabi River, Krabi's Large Black Mud Crab Statue, nammed The Mud Crabs Sculpture, consists of a huge crab and smaller ones around. In Thai it is called Lan Poo Dam. This is one of Krabi's iconic images.

With Khao Khanap Nam mountain in the background, we have there two of the symbols of the city. There is also an eagle statue. These animals symbolize how abundant Krabi is.

At the pontoon at the bottom of the statue, there are longtail boats parked. You can negotiate with them a tour on Krabi river to see the 2 peaks and especially Khao Khanab Nam and its caves, cross the mangrove tunnel and end up on the small Koh Klang island. Or you can book the tour that I list below on this page. Either way, it is for me, a must-do excursion when you are in Krabi town!

Practical information about The Mud Crabs Sculpture

The crab is illuminated at night. There is a night market next door called the Black Crab Night Market which is open every night.

How to get to The Mud Crabs Sculpture ?

If you are staying in Krabi Town, normally the Giant Crab will be easily accessible by walking. From Ao Nang, it will be necessary to have transportation or to take the white songthaews which connect the city to Ao Nang Beach.
