8 km from the majestic Phanom Rung, Muang Tam is also a Khmer temple dedicated to Shiva. It was built in the late 10th early 11th centuries and was restored and open to the public in the late 90s. With its four large pools surrounded by Naga, it is one the most complete temples of this kind. Only the five central towers have not been rebuilt.
Often drivers you will hire will offer to add Muang Tam to the Phanom Rung visit. Our advice: accept!

How to get to Prasat Muang Tam ?

Prasat Muang Tam is quite far from Buriram, you will need to be transported to get there. However, you can take a bus to Nang Rong, the city closest to the temple and see on the spot to find a tuk-tuk or rent a car with driver but it will be more complicated unless you sleep in Nang Rong and then your hotel should be able to organize an excursion going there. Otherwise, see the tours offered at the bottom of this page.
