Located 65 km west of Hua Hin, 146 km northwest of Prachuap Khiri Khan, 117 km south of Phetchaburi and 80 km from Pranburi, in Kaeng Krachan National Park, the Pala U waterfall features 15 levels but generally only the first 5 are open to the public. It must be said that the path is slippery and the more you climb the more it gets physical. I stopped at the doors of the 5th level which was the latest open when I visited the place. It was a pleasant walk with a little exercise on the parts with the ropes. Very useful to help you even progress and keep your balance. Even if this park contains a lot of wild elephants (the numerous also elephants droppings on the road which leads to the parking lot from where the trail starts prive their presence), I saw smaller animals, a 10 centimeters or more wide spider, crabs and a lizard who believed that by not moving I would take him for a piece of wood.
The Pala-U Waterfall is open all year round but the water level varies a lot depending on the season. The best time to visit is from July to November.
