Koh Hong Island Trip Krabi
Koh Hong island is probably the best known and the most offered island in boat tours from Krabi or Ao Nang. It can be visited in 2 steps, the beach part where the boat disembarks you so that you can relax, bathe and do a little snorkeling and the lagoon part which surrounded by limestone peaks forms a kind of room which gave its name to the island (hong in Thai language means room). The beach part is quite crowded, it has a small snorkeling spot at the foot of the limestone peak planted in the middle but the visibility is often quite low due to suspended sand. You can however see some multicolored fishes. You can also rent kayaks or walk on the little trail and climb to the new viewpoint, I must say.

Mu Koh Hong, the islands of Koh Hong, are located in Than Bok Khorani National Park in Krabi Province. It is a collection of large and small islands like Koh Lao (or Koh Sa Ga), Koh Lao Riam, Koh Pak Ka and Koh Lao Lading. In general, the excursions offered by the local agencies take you to Koh Hong and at least to Koh Lao Lading and Koh Pak Bia for a day or half day tour. It is a nice tour but also very popular and therefore if you can manage to have few people on one of the islands by leaving early in the morning or visiting it around 4 p.m., there will be a lot of tourists on the others islands especially in high season (December to end of March ).

Practical information about Koh Hong

Open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The earlier you get there or around 4 p.m., the less crowded it will be.

To go visit Koh Hong, you can also book one of the tours above.

How to get to Koh Hong ?

To make the boat tour to Koh Hong from Krabi or Ao Nang, you will have the choice between offers on a traditional longtail boat, slower, but it will leave from Ao Thalane (so there will be a minivan ride to there) not far from Koh Hong and longtail boats pollute less or on a speedboatd which is faster. To do the tour by longtail boat in addition to the tour agencies that all offer this trip, you can go to the kiosks of the Ao Nang Longtail Boat Service Club at the top of Ao Nang beach or call them at 075 695 473 or 075 695 313 and privatize a boat. For speedboats it will necessarily be in a group because it is very expensive to privatize a speedboat and there should be around twenty tourists on board. The prices for group tours are around 1.500 to 2.500 THB per person depending on the type of boat and the program of your excursion.
