The Mae Kha Canal is one of the tributaries of the Ping River and crosses the municipality of Chiang Mai for 11 kilometers of its 31 kilometers in length. Long affected by polluted water, it has been cleaned and rehabilitated to recently transform a 750-meter-long section into one of Chiang Mai's popular places.
Located south-east outside the central square of the city, the small portion of the rehabilitated canal hold many events since 2022 and become a high place for celebrating Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai.
