The Tham Khao Wang Thong (
Tham in Thai means cave) is for me, one of the three must-sees in Khanom with
pink dolphins and fun fish spas in the river. Taking a guide is mandatory to visit it. They will wait for you at the entrance of the park. After climbing the 300 steps leading to the small opening in the wall of the mountain, you arrive in a small sanctuary and then go deeper into a vast series of rooms with incredible stalagmites and stalactites that sometimes draw shapes similar to a Chinese goddess, a chedi, a dinosaur... To explore the cave, visitors must climb or bend in some areas. The soil sometimes wet especially during the rainy season (especially in November-December) may be slippery. So better it is to have good shoes and not come in with flip flops. You will also come across 2 types of bats, small and large.
I loved visiting this cave ! The guide was a local who spoke not so bad English and showed me all the nooks and crannies.
