Located 10 kilometers from the center of Nan city, the Baan Bo Suak community has several old pottery kilns. No more in use, they are historical remains but you can visit the
Huen Ban Suak Saen-Cheun Museum and if you're lucky, you'll be there at the same time as students from neighboring schools learning potter's work. At 20 meters from the junction leading to the museum on road 4004, there is a center where you can see a pottery workshop and a person who will show you how to do. In theory, you can even try and make your own pieces but
you will have to come with someone who will translate the instructions (a tuk-tuk driver who speaks good English for example) because here, like in the neighboring museum, no one speaks english. It is the the flaw of this place that foreign tourists never visit. But it may worth stopping there on the way in or the way back to the
Ban Nawarat's amazing little spa or when you go see the weavers at work in Ban Sao Luang 10 kilometers away. But do not come just for Ban Bo Suak without a guide or a Thai who can be you interpreter, you could be disappointed.
