Visit Wat Thammikarat (Ayutthaya)
Presentation Wat Thammikarat
g_translate Thai name : วัดธรรมิกราช
reviews My opinion:
starstarstarstar
Wat Thammikarat or Wat Thummikarat, you will find both spellings on signboards, is not far from Wat Si Sanphet, near the edge of the river. It has several buildings from different times including one with walls only. Nor its brick chedi surrounded by singha nor its huge iconic bronze Buddha head are the real treasures of this temple which is not often presnet in the tourist programs. Almost opposite to the giant Buddha head is a building in renovation (at the right of the chedi) containing a lovely golden reclining Buddha that surpisly the LP guide about Thailand does not mention. Add a statue of King Naresuan and a newer wihaan and you have Wat Thammikarat.

How to get to Wat Thammikarat ?
To get to Wat Thammikarat like most temples in Ayutthaya city center or nearby, you can choose to rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the city or from your hotel or guesthouse (they sometimes make them available for their hosts for free) or rent a tuk-tuk and just to go to this specific temple or for a whole city tour for a price around 200 THB per hour. Otherwise, it is also possible to rent a scooter, sometimes at your hotel, or from rental companies in town. Depending on where you stay in Ayutthaya, it can also be just a quick walk away from your accommodation.
