This date was the moment of\u00a0the crowning of the first king of the Chakri dynasty, Rama 1, founder of the royal city of Bangkok.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5829\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5829\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5829 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thailandee.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/jour-chakri-thailande.jpg\" alt=\"Rama 1 Thailand\" width=\"600\" height=\"563\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5829\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rama 1 and the symbol of the Chakri Dynasty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chakri_Dynasty\" target=\"_blank\">Chakri dynasty<\/a> is important in Thailand, it is the dynasty\u00a0of the current King, Bhumibol Adulyadej.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1782, the dynasty succeeded the Ayutthaya kings defeated by the Burmese and moved the capital of the Kingdom to Bangkok (to Thonburi to be exact).<\/p>\n<p>The Chakri kings then took the name of Rama. The dynastic name of Thailand\u00a0current King is Rama IX.<\/p>\n<p>Rama 1 was crowned on April 6, 1782, and stayed king\u00a0until 1809. He consolidated the kingdom and protected it from invasions.<\/p>\n<p>It was during his reign that the Grand Palace and <a href=\"\/en\/visit-thailand\/wat-phra-kaew-bangkok-4\">Wat Phra Kaew<\/a> which is\u00a0hosting\u00a0the Emerald Buddha were built.<\/p>\n<p>On April 6, the day of Chakri, the royal family organizes a religious ceremony to pay tribute to its\u00a0ancestors.
