Located next to the big yellow Buddha, the temple of Wat Tham Yai Prik was first, in 1970, a single house in a limestone cave. Then over the years it has grown while its meditation teacher got famous throughout the country. Today, Wat Tham Yai Prik hosts more than 40 monks and nuns. Built around a network of caves which are great places for meditation, it houses pictures of corpses in various states of decomposition. The goal is that by the contemplation of death, you understand the nature of existence . The temple also offers from its chedi at the top, a beautiful view of the surroundings.
