The Three Pagodas Pass (Chedi Sam Ong in Thai) is a checkpoint at the border between Thailand and Burma (Myanmar) with a small market and three small white chedi which gave the place its name. Local people come here to pray and make offerings to the chedi or do shopping at the market which sells souvenirs, precious stones, artcraft... Nothing that interesting in our opinion, if you can not pass the birder and visit Burmese side.
The border is not always open. When this is open, you can get a visa for a day ($ 10 or 500 THB but it is better to pay in dollars) and visit the Burmese city of Payathonzu. Then you have to leave your passport at the border point and get it back when you return to Thailand and provide a picture.
