Located a few kilometers from Bangkok, the Taling Chan Floating Market is on Khlong Chak Phra canal. Do not expect a large floating market, the real market is in the driveway before the canal and the floating part, strictly speaking, is only 20 meters long and mainly consists in boats that are the kitchens of the restaurants. If tyou are looking for the postcard image of traditional Thai floating markets, you'll be a little disappointed. But the place, mostly frequented by Thais, is nice. Sometimes there is traditional music played by a live band. The stalls before the channel offer interesting products and plants. Taling Chan Floating Market is good place to eat delicious seafood sitting on the floor at a low table. it only costs a few dozen bahts. There is even a massage stand, swings for children, fish that you can feed and an agency offering boat tours on the klongs (small canals in Bangkok) at much lower prices than the one you can get in the center of Bangkok. The Tour of three markets, Taling Chan, Klong Lat Mayom Floating Market and Wat Saphan Floating Market is particularly recommended. It costs around a hundred baht per person (starts at 9:45).
