Khao San Road will get “cleaned”

Khao San Road is the most popular street for travelers and especially backpackers who visit Bangkok. His chaotic and colorful side is actually probably its charm. According to the BMA (Bangkok Metropolitan Administration), new regulations will include a guarantee of a space of at least 1 meter on the sidewalks for pedestrians and makeshift stalls that must be stored every night after the market is closed. An action that is not to everyone’s taste and should penalize some sellers who earned small incomes just allowing them to live. Resistance of the vendors is not be excluded even if the impact of this “clean-up” plan on vendors, companies or the visual landscape of the street is not clear yet.

As for me, trying too hard to “clean” and order, is taking the risk of losing Khao San Road’s soul …
